Friday sees SFU return to the ice for the first time in three weeks.
After a three week break, the Simon Fraser University Red Leafs return to host the Okanagan Lakers at Bill Copeland Sports Centre at 7:00pm. The Red Leafs’ last match at home also came against the Lakers, where they would fall by a score of 6-3. SFU is currently has a 3-3-1 record on the season and will look to earn a vital 2 points in the standings.
On the other end of the ice, Okanagan is riding a 2-1-0 record so far in November with the team’s only loss at the hands of the first-place UVic Vikes. The Lakers are halfway through their schedule entering tonight’s game as well, having played 10 games this season so far: the most of any BCIHL team up to this point. With no games in hand and sitting 1 point behind the top of the standings, Okanagan will be motivated to earn the two points on the line.
At 7:30, the UVic Vikes will host the Logan Lake Miners at the Ian Stewart Complex. The Vikes are on a 6 game win streak dating back to October 20th when they downed the Okanagan Lakers 5-4. Despite not having any players in the top 5 point scorers and just one in the top 10, the balanced team effort has rocketed the Vikes to the top of the standings with a 7-1-0 record with just two games remaining in the calendar year.
Logan Lake, with two players in the top 10 of point scorers, will look to earn two points in the standings on their first trip to Vancouver Island since the beginning of the season. The Miners remain winless this season but will be looking to hand the Vikes their second loss of the season.
