GAME NOTES | 02.02.24

The final month of the season kicks off with the second and third place teams battling it out for an important two points.

The Lakers head to Victoria after winning their last two games in a home-and-home series against the Logan Lake Miners. The 8-5-1 team is looking to hold their ground in the standings against the second place UVic Vikes, who sit 4 points ahead with one less game on the schedule. Okanagan’s top 7 scorers this season are all rookies to the program, lead by forward and playmaker Carter Bettenson with 15 assists and 21 points in 14 games.

UVic is also on a two-game winning streak after winning their last two games against the SFU Red Leafs last weekend at home. With just 5 games left on the schedule and first place in their sights, the Vikes will be looking to keep momentum and push the Mariners to the last game to determine final positioning in the standings.

SFU and Logan Lake both are coming off tough weekends with two losses each against the aforementioned Vikes and Lakers and are each looking to break their respective losing streaks. The Miners will be extra motivated for the two points in the standings as their last hope at the BCIHL playoffs lie in the hands of the Red Leafs, as each team has 6 games remaining and are only separated by 9 points.
