GAME NOTES | 01.26.24

Last weekend, the Red Leafs split their games with two shutouts: one in VIU’s favour, and one in their favour against the Vikes. SFU has 9 games remaining and is sitting in that 4th and final playoff position with a 5-5-1 record, and will need to earn important points against teams like UVic and Okanagan to keep their hopes at home-ice advantage alive.

UVic is 1-3-1 in their last 5 games, including that 2-0 shutout loss to SFU last weekend. Sitting in 2nd behind a VIU team that’s riding a 6 game win streak, the Vikes will look to re-create a streak of their own in their race for top spot in the BCIHL.

After a delayed break and a return that saw the Lakers fall 7-4 to VIU, Okanagan will be looking to flip the script as they visit Logan Lake for the final time this season. The Lakers currently hold a 3-0 season head-to-head record over Logan Lake, outscoring the Miners by a 26-7 margin in those three games. The home-and-home series starting on Friday night will be Okanagan’s only attempt at a season sweep of an opponent this year.

Logan Lake is still searching for their second win of the season after falling 7-1 to the UVic Vikes in their return to BCIHL regular season action. The Miners have shown improvement over the season with closer games than their inaugural season, and the team will be looking to build momentum over these last 8 games to avoid missing the 2024 BCIHL Playoffs.
