VIU’s extended home-stand wraps up with a visit from the Red Leafs.
After hosting the 2024 Tom Harris University Showcase last weekend, the VIU Mariners wrap up their extended regular season and exhibition home stand with a visit from the SFU Red Leafs. This will be the first of three matchups this January between the Mariners and the Red Leafs.
The Mariners are currently riding a 3-game win streak that propelled them to the top of the BCIHL standings starting back in November, outscoring their opponents 22-10 in that short stretch. VIU’s offensive-minded structure has lead to some very high scoring games, and has landed Ethan Jones, Logan Kurki, and Brock Palmer atop the BCIHL scoring leaderboard.
With Friday’s game in Victoria postponed, SFU will start their road trip looking to avoid the results of the first meeting this season between these two teams, where the Mariners dominated in a 10-3 outing. The defending champions will look to improve their record significantly throughout the remainder of the season with a full lineup moving forward.
