The BC Intercollegiate Hockey League announced today that Selkirk College forward Jaiden LaPorte is the BCIHL Player of the Week for the period ending January 26, 2020.
LaPorte had two goals and an assist in two games as the Saints suffered a pair of one goal losses on the road this past Friday and Saturday.
The Fort McMurray, Alberta product had an assist midway through the first period of Friday's game against Trinity Western University. LaPorte then scored twice in the third period as Selkrik College came close to sending the game to overtime, only to fall 5-4 to the Spartans.
The 21-year-old forward now has points in all but six games this season. LaPorte also has six points in his last five games, including four goals. He is now third in scoring on Selkirk College this season, one point back of team leader Tristen Cross.
Honourable mentions for this week's BCIHL Player of the Week include Trinity Western University forward Brandon Potomak (one goal, two assists), Selkirk College forward Edward Lindsey (one goal, two assists), Vancouver Island University forward Gavin Rauser (two assists) and Simon Fraser University goaltender Patrick Zubick (28 saves).
