Vancouver Island University avenged a lopsided loss to the University of Victoria in their previous meeting on Friday, skating to a 4-1 victory on the road at the Ian Stewart Complex.
One week after the Vikes scored eight consecutive goals in an 8-2 win in Nanaimo, the Mariners rebounded with a strong defensive effort.
Garrett Dunlop opened the scoring with four minutes remaining in the first period, and Max Creighton and Liam Sweeney extended the VIU lead to three goals in the second period.
Carter Huber got the Vikes on the board early in the third, but Gage Colpron dashed any hopes of a UVic comeback when he scored the Mariners' fourth goal of the night with 7:53 left in regulation.
Jeremy Balyk stopped 33 shots to record his fifth straight win, while Tyler Rennie took the loss for Victoria with a 32-save performance. Sweeney and Gavin Rauser each recorded two points on the night for VIU.
Both teams are back in action next weekend for home contests against Trinity Western, with Victoria hosting the Spartans on Friday and VIU welcoming the leage leaders on Saturday.
