Former Trinity Western University goaltender and B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League Most Valuable Player Silas Matthys has signed a two-year contract extension with EHC Olten in Switzerland that will keep him with the team through the 2021/22 season.
EHC Olten plays in the Swiss B league and currently sits in second place with a 29-11 record. Matthys has recorded a 2.04 goals-against average and .922 save-percentage, which put him amongst the league leaders in both categories.
Matthys enjoyed a decorated BCIHL career that included an MVP award in 2014/15 and a pair of Top Goaltender awards in 2014/15 and 2017/18. He tolds a number of all-time league records including for wins (51), save-percentage (.922), minutes played (4783) and saves (2423).
