Selkirk forward Blake Sidoni named ANYTHING BRANDED Player of the Week

The BC Intercollgiate Hockey League announced today that Selkirk College forward Blake Sidoni is the ANYTHING BRANDED BCIHL Player of the Week for the period ending October 27, 2019.

Sidoni had four points (2-2-4) for the Saints on the weekend as Selkirk extended its winning streak to four games.

The Trail, BC product helped pace the offence on Friday night where the Saints outgunned the University of Victoria 7-6. Sidoni had a goal and an assist in the first period as Selkirk built a 5-2 lead and then assisted on Dylan Heppler’s winner in the third period.

On Saturday, Sidoni tallied with 56 seconds left in the second period as the Saints erased a 3-0 deficit against Vancouver Island University. Although he didn’t score in the 14-round shootout, Selkirk College came away with a 5-4 win when Parker Wakaruk ended the marathon.

Sidoni, a 21-year-old who was fourth in scoring on the Virden Oil Capitals last season, now leads the Saints in scoring this year with eight points in six games. He’s hit the scoresheet in every game but one in 2019-20 and is riding a five game point streak.

Honourable mentions for this week's BCIHL Player of the Week include Selkirk College goaltender Tallon Kramer (2-0, 3.58 GAA, .906 SV%), Vancouver Island University forward Brett Witala (1-2-3), Trinity Western University forward Hayden Guilderson (1-2-3), University of Victoria forward Keenan Eddy (2-1-3), and Simon Fraser University defenceman Dominic Masellis (0-2-2).
