The BC Intercollgiate Hockey League announced today that University of Vicoria goaltender Daniel Paul is the ANYTHING BRANDED BCIHL Player of the Week for the period ending September 29, 2019.
Paul won his collegiate hockey debut in the Vikes net last week, allowing just one goal on 39 shots (1-0-0, 1.00, .974).
Paul made 38 saves on Friday night as UVic earned a 5-1 home win in the front end of a two-game set with Vancouver Island University. The two teams meet again on Friday, Oct. 4.
A graduate of the Osoyoos Coyotes in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League, Paul had a record of 15-18-1 and a league-tying five shutouts in 35 appearances last season, posting a 3.34 goals-against average and a .913 save percentage.
The 20-year-old native of Kelowna, BC was a 15-game winner with the Coyotes in 2018-19 and had a 3.05 GAA, a .912 save percentage and 11 shutouts in 136 career KIJHL games (50-75-5).
Runners-up for this week's BCIHL Player of the Week award include University of Victoria forwards Josh Coblenz and Stratton Pickett along with Vancouver Island University forward Garrett Dunlop.
