Simon Fraser University forward Mitch Newsome is the ANYTHING BRANDED Player of the Week for the week ending October 28th.
The 21-year-old from Surrey, BC had a four-goal weekend, including his first in the BCIHL, as SFU improved to 3-2 on the season with back-to-back wins.
Newsome scored his first of the weekend as part of a four goal first period and then added another in the third as the Clan cruised to a 5-1 win on the road against the University of Victoria on Friday night.
Back at home on Saturday, Newsome scored the only goal of the second period for SFU to cut Selkirk College's lead to 2-1 and then he tallied the overtime winner on a power play with just under two minutes to go in the extra frame to give the Clan a 5-4 victory.
Runners up for this week's ANYTHING BRANDED POW award include Trinity Western University forward Evan Last, Vancouver Island University Garrett Dunlop, Selkirk College forward Dylan Heppler and University of Victoria forward Jordan Evans.
