Mariners continue to add for 2018 withs signings of Mostat & Morton

Vancouver Island University is pleased to announce commitments from forward Logan Mostat and defenceman Adam Morton to join the Mariners for the 2018/19 B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League season.

Mostat is a 5-foot-10 forward who recently completed his junior hockey career with the BCHL's Salmon Arm Silverbacks. The 20-year old scored eight goals and totaled 16 points in 36 regular season games with Salmon Arm.

He spent parts of three seasons in the KIJHL with the North Okanagan Knights and Chase Heat before signing with the BCHL's Surrey Eagles midway through the 2015/16 campaign. He would play 50 games with the Eagles before joining West Kelowna, and then the Silverbacks.

Mostat posted 30 goals and 67 points in 124 BCHL regular season games as well as an assist in four playoff contests.

Meanwhile, Mortin joins the Mariners from the GMHL's Almaguin Spartans of the GMHL. The 22-year old scored 17 goals and 21 assists in just 29 regular season games with the Spartans last season before adding 13 points in 14 playoff appearances.

Morton spent the previous three seasons with the Perth Blue Wings, suiting up in 124 gamesand picking up 103 points. During that time he also suited up in five games with the Junior A Kanata Lasers in the CCHL.

Mostat and Morton are the Mariners' eighth and ninth commitments for the 2018/19 BCIHL season, joining forwards Eric Buckley, Ronnie Wilkie, Liam Sweeney and Dylan McCann, as well as defencemen Pat Brady, Jake Calverley and goaltender Matt Huber.
