SFU's Lyndon Stanwood named BCHL Grad of the Month for February

Simon Fraser University goaltender Lyndon Stanwood has been named the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League's BCHL Grad of the Month for January.

Stanwood was a rock between the pipes for the Clan during the month, picking up five wins in six appearances. The only blemish on his record was a 3-2 overtime loss to Selkirk College where he made 30 saves. He opened the month by ringing off four consecutive home wins and closed out February with a 2.11 goals-against average and .918 save percentage.

The 24-year old played three seasons in total at SFU, compiling a career record of 30 wins and 11 losses. He was named the BCIHL's Most Valuable Player and a First Team All-Star at the conclusion of the 2016/17 season after setting single-season records with a 1.73 GAA and .934 SV%.

Stanwood played three years in the BCHL, initially signing with the Trail Smoke Eaters early in the 2011/12 season. He suited up in 70 games over two seasons in Trail before splitting his 20-year old campaign in the Mainland Division between the Langley Rivermen and Chilliwack Chiefs.

The West Vancouver, BC product racked up over 5000 minutes in net over 97 appearances over his BCHL career, picking up 31 wins. He spent a season playing NCAA Division III hockey at Lake Forest College in Illinois before joining SFU.
