VIU forward Michael Olson-Eyre named ANYTHING BRANDED Player of the Week

Vancouver Island University forward Michael Olson-Eyre is the ANYTHING BRANDED Player of the Week for the week ending March 4th.

The 23-year-old from Delta, BC had three goals and two assists on Friday night as the Mariners kicked off a road trip in Eastern Washington with an 8-2 thumping of the Eagles. Olson-Eyre opened the scoring for VIU on a power play and added an assist on Gage Colpron's marker with just under eight minutes left in the first period. 

He then scored 1:59 into the second period to extend the Mariners' lead to 4-0 and completed the hat trick 17:31 into the middle frame to give VIU an 8-1 lead. 

The 2015 VIJHL champion finishes his first BCIHL season with 18 points (nine goals, nine assists) in 24 games for VIU and ninth overall in BCIHL rookie scoring. Olson-Eyre has been particularly hot in 2018, with 11 points (six goals, five assists) in 12 games since the calendar turned to the new year.
