Vancouver Island University forward Kobe Oishi is the ANYTHING BRANDED Player of the Week for the week ending February 25th.
The 21-year-old from Kelowna had a goal and two assists on Saturday night as the Mariners needed overtime to knock off league leading Trinity Western University 6-5. Oishi scored 2:17 into the second period to give VIU a 2-0 lead and then added his two assists in a span of four minutes and 18 seconds as the Mariners built a 5-0 lead.
The two-time VIJHL champion with Campbell River is having a solid rookie season with VIU, putting up eight goals and ten assists in 23 games. Oishi has six multi-point games and been named first star three times so far this season for the Mariners. He is currently third in scoring on VIU, just six points back of team leader Garrett Dunlop.
Runners up for this week's ANYTHING BRANDED POW award include Dunlop, Selkirk College forward Brandon Sookro, Simon Fraser University forward Mac Colasimone, Trinity Western University forward Kade Vilio, and University of Victoria goaltender Alec Dillon.
