Simon Fraser University rallied from a pair of first period deficits and scored four unanswered goals to outbattle Eastern Washington University by a 5-2 score on the road in Cheney on Friday night.
Taylor Bargar and Brett Matthews each scored in the first to give the Eagles short-lived leads, but replies from Jaret Babych and Mathew Berry-Lamontagna brought the Clan even before intermission.
SFU took control of the game in the second period when Eric Callegari and Babych, with his second of the night, scored 2:30 apart late in the frame. And Nicholas Holowko netted his first BCIHL career goal midway through the third to put the brakes on any thought of an EWU comeback.
Lyndon Stanwood picked up the win for Simon Fraser with a 29-save outing, while Tanner Loucks took the loss following a 42-save performance.
The loss, combined with a win by Vancouver Island University, officially eliminates the Eagles from the 2018 BCIHL postseason.
SFU will continue their weekend road swing on Saturday night when they head north to face Selkirk College in Castlegar. The game is set for a 7:00 PM faceoff.
