Selkirk College kept their perfect start to the B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League season alive on Friday, scoring five times in the second period en route to a 6-1 road victory over the University of Victoria.
Following a scoreless opening frame, Dallas Calvin put the Saints on the board seven minutes into the middle period. And the goals kept coming for the visitors, as Derek Georgopoulos, Dane Feeney (2) and Devin Nemes all added goals in a span of 8:57 to build a five-goal advantage before intermission.
Shane Kumar got the Vikes on the board early in the third, but that was as close as the hosts would get. Brandon Sookro restored the Saints' five-goal lead minutes later and Selkirk cruised from there.
Patrick Zubick picked up the win in net for the Saints with a 26-save performance. At the other end of the ice, Alec Dillon was beaten six times on 27 shots before being relieved by Michael Fredrick, who stopped all six shots he faced.
Georgopoulos finished the night with a goal and two assists, while Feeney and Sookro also had multi-point nights for Selkirk.
The Saints now travel north to Nanaimo to face Vancouver Island University while UVic is off until they travel to Castlegar for a rematch against Selkirk on November 3rd.
