Lamont, Mills, Stanwood & Mills named Players of the Month for February

BCIHL Media

The British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League has unveiled its award winners for the month of February, which include games played the weekend of March 2-3.

Player of the Month - Brendan Lamont, Simon Fraser University

The former Coquitlam Express forward was a play-making machine in February and March, picking up nine assists over six games. He set up goals in important wins over TWU, Selkirk and UVic early in the month before exploding for five assists in a 7-1 victory over Eastern. He also assisted on Darnel St. Pierre's game winner in the Clan's final regular season game against TWU that clinched top spot in the standings.

Defenceman of the Month - Jacob Mills, Trinity Western University

It was a breakout month offensively for the third-year blueliner, who began the month of February with a four-game point streak. After hitting the scoresheet in home wins over Selkirk College and UVic, Mills netted his first BCIHL hat trick in a 5-1 victory over Eastern Washington. He was named a game star twice and totaled four goals and two assists over a six-game span to help the Spartans clinch second in the BCIHL.

Goaltender of the Month - Lyndon Stanwood, Simon Fraser University

The NCAA transfer was nearly unbeatable for the Clan in February, allowing just one goal in three starts while picking up a pair of shutouts in wins over Trinity Western and the University of Victoria. He was named a game star in three of his four starts, going 3-1-0 while posting a 1.00 GAA and .959 SV%, to help the Clan wrap up first place in the league's regular season standings.

Rookie of the Month - Jack Mills, Selkirk College

The first-year forward was a consistent goal-scoring threat for the Saints down the stretch as the 21-year old hit the back of the net in five of eight games to close out the regular season. That stretch included goals in back-to-back games in a weekend sweep of UVic that solidified a third place finish for Selkirk. Mills' late season run of success saw him finish tied for the Saints' goal scoring lead with 11 in 24 games.
