The University of Victoria rebounded from their toughest weekend to this point of the 2016/17 BCIHL regular season, defeating Eastern Washington by a 4-1 score on home ice at the Ian Stewart Complex on Friday.
Just seven days after finding themselves on the wrong end of an 8-0 loss to the Eagles in Cheney, the Vikes took the lead 49 seconds into regulation and took a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.
A pair of goals in the second was all UVic would need in order to put the game away, as Jack Palmer scored just eight seconds into the frame before Cody Allison put things out of reach later in the period.
Patrick Holland picked up a goal and an assist on the night, while Wolfgang Schoenefuhs scored the other Vikes marker. Taylor Bargar replied for the visitors.
EWU outshot their hosts by a 25-23 margin but were foiled by Vikes starter Zack Wear, who made 24 saves on the night. Austin Brihn took the loss for the Eagles.
The teams will complete their two-game weekend series on Saturday night. Faceoff is set for 7:30 PM in Victoria.
