THE WEEKEND STORY
· The Spartans will play the first of three Thursday night home games this season when they take on an Eastern Washington team that has lost 10 straight to open the season.
· TWU beat the Eagles 5-1 in their only meeting this year.
· Over EWU’s last seven games, the Eagles have been outscored 49-10 and four of their goals came in a 5-4 loss to Selkirk. The Eagles scored one goal in each of the other six games over that span.
· Friday’s contest sees TWU and Selkirk meet in another rematch of last year’s BCIHL championship series.
· TWU is 2-1 against the Saints this season. · Last time Selkirk was in Langley, the Spartans won 2-0.
· Spartans goalie Silas Matthys is the BCIHL’s all-time wins leader after recording his 30th career victory last weekend over Simon Fraser.
· Amongst goalies who have played at least four games, Matthys leads the league with a 2.00 GAA and a .934 save percentage.
· TWU goalie Lucas Mills leads all BCIHL goalies with a .982 save percentage and a 0.50 goals against average.
· First-year Spartans Evan Last, with five goals and 11 assists, and Jarrett Fontaine, with seven goals and seven assists, are second and fourth in league scoring.
· Selkirk’s Dallas Calvin leads the BCIHL with five goals and 12 assists in 10 games.
