SFU adds offence with commitment from BCHL, SJHL vet Daniell Lange

Simon Fraser University is proud to introduce Daniell Lange as the final member of the Clan's 2016/17 recruiting class.

Lange spent last season in the SJHL with the Kindersley Kilppers. He has also been a member of back-to-back championship teams, winning a Junior “B” national title with the Richmond Sockeyes in 2013 before winning a Junior “A” league title with the Coquitlam Express the following year.

Lange will be counted on for offence with the Clan after putting up 57 points (30 goals, 27 assists) with Kindersley last season, which is what drew Head Coach Mark Coletta to SFU.

“He put up some very impressive numbers last season, so we expect him to contribute offensively, he’s got good hands and a great shot,” says Coletta. 

Daniell describes himself as a “gritty player who can also score.”

With the departure of Jono Ceci, the Clan will be looking to replace the points he put up during his time in the BCIHL.

Before spending last season in Saskatchewen, Lange spent two full seasons with the Express collecting 34 points (19 goals, 15 assists) in 105 games. He has been counted on to be a key offensive contributor in each stop during his hockey career, averaging over a point a game with Richmond and in his final year of Major Midget with the Valley West Hawks.

Lange is the final recruit for the 2016-17 season for SFU. The Clan are poised to have a very strong recruiting class as they look to bounce back after a disappointing end to 2015/16. Training camp is underway this week at Burnaby Lake Arena, and you can catch Daniell and the rest of the team on the ice each day from 10:00-11:00am.
