TWU's Matthys returns from injury to pick up 2 wins, Player of the Week nod

Trinity Western University goaltender Silas Matthys has been named the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending February 21st.

Matthys returned from a month-long absence due to injury and picked up back-to-back road victories over Eastern Washington to keep his team in the mix for first place in the BCIHL regular season standings.

On Friday, the Swiss product was named the game's second star after turning aside 36 shots in a 3-2 win, including all 13 that he faced during the third period. And on Saturday, he made 20 saves in a dominant 7-1 Spartans' win.

Overall, Matthys finished the week with a 2-0 record, 1.50 GAA and .949 save-percentage. He now stands 8-5-0-0 on the season with a .925 SV% that leads all BCIHL netminders.

Runners up for this week's award include Simon Fraser University defenceman Matthew Berry-Lamontanga, Selkirk College goaltender James Prigione and Trinity Western University forward Florian Niedermaier.
