TWU's Buys named Player of the Week after big effort in home win over UVic

Trinity Western University forward PJ Buys has been named the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending January 24th.

Buys picked up three points in the Spartans' 6-2 victory over the University of Victoria on Friday night. First, he assisted on Blair Murphy's opening goal less than two minutes in to regulation. Then, with TWU up 3-1 in the second period, Buys struck for back-to-back goals in a span of 4:39 to put the game out of reach for the Vikes.

With the three-point game, the Newmarket, ON product recaptured the team scoring lead with 17 points. He also moved up into seventh in league scoring.

Runners up for this week's award include Eastern Washington University forward Paxton Bell, Selkirk College forward Dallas Calvin and University of Victoria goaltender Scott Legault.
