TWU's Murphy named BCIHL Player of the Week after home win over Selkirk

Trinity Western University defenceman Blair Murphy has been named the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending December 6th.

Murphy played a key role at both ends of the rink on Friday as the Spartans closed out the 2015 portion of their schedule with a 4-2 victory over Selkirk College.

With the hosts nursing a 2-1 lead midway through the third period, the TWU captain blasted home a power-play goal that would stand up as the game winner. And, with the Saints pressing for an equalizer late in the game, Murphy set up Dirk de Waal for an insurance marker with 51 seconds remaining in regulation.

With three goals and nine points, the fourth-year blueliner currently sits in a tie for second in scoring amongst BCIHL defencemen and 15th amongst all skaters.

Runners up for this week's award include Trinity Western University defenceman Ryan Bakken, Simon Fraser University forward Brendan Lamont and Simon Fraser University forward Adam Callegari.
