SFU's Jono Ceci named Player of the Week after topping BCIHL points record

Simon Fraser University forward Jono Ceci has been named the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending November 29th.

Ceci broke the BCIHL all-time scoring record on Saturday night in Burnaby when he assisted on a goal by linemate Jesse Mysiorek. It was a historic moment for the league and also a crucial goal for the Clan, who had been trailing Trinity Western for most of the night before Mysiorek tied the game with just 2:15 left in regulation.

The SFU captain entered his fifth BCIHL season trailing former UFV and TWU star Robert Vos by 10 points for the all-time scoring lead. He tied the record with a three-point game in Victoria on November 20th and -- fittingly -- broke it in front of his home fans on Saturday.

Ceci's 158 career points have come in a total of 95 games over five seasons. He has been named a BCIHL First or Second-Team All-Star in all four of his previous seasons in the league, and will hope to capture his first league championship in March.

Runners up for this week's award include Trinity Western University goaltender Silas Matthys, Simon Fraser University forward Jesse Mysiorek and University of Victoria forward Aaron Enns.
