Simon Fraser University goaltender Andrew Parent has been named the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending February 15th.
The 24-year old goaltender recorded his fifth career BCIHL shutout on Saturday night when he shut down first-place Trinity Western en route to a 3-0 home victory for the Clan.
Parent turned aside 24 shots on the night, including 11 during a busy first period where his played opened the door for SFU to take a 2-0 lead. He faced five and eight shots in the second and third periods respectively to become the first netminder this season to earn a shutout against the league's most prolific offence.
Trinity Western entered the game avergaing nearly five goals per contest.
Parent is in his fifth and final season of BCIHL eligibility and leads Clan netminders with seven wins. He has posted a 3.09 goals-against average and .892 save-percentage for the fourth-place Clan.
Runners up for this week's award include Selkirk College forward Jamie Vlanich, Eastern Washington University forward Beau Walker and Selkirk College defenceman Ryan Procyshyn.
