Simon Fraser University picked up their second consecutive shootout victory on Friday night, as Nick Sandor broke a 1-1 deadlock in the third round to give the Clan a 2-1 road victory over Selkirk College in Castlegar.
The Saints outshot their visitors by a 10-3 margin in a scoreless first period and couldn't solve SFU starter Jordan Liem until late in the second when Alex Milligan converted on a Selkirk power-play.
The hosts held their lead through much of the third period, but the Clan eventually tied the game with 5:27 remaining off the stick of reigning BCIHL Player of the Week Mathew Berry-Lamontanga.
Five minutes of 4-on-4 overtime failed to determine a winner so the game proceeded to a shootout, where the Saints took an early advantage on a Thomas Hardy goal. But SFU struck back with a even-up from Berry-Lamontanga and took both points when Sandor beat Selkirk netminder James Prigione to end the game.
Liem stopped 33 shots through overtime and a pair of shootout attempts to pick up the win, while Prigione made 24 saves in the loss.
SFU completes their two-game road swing on Saturday at Eastern Washington, while the Saints will face EWU in back-to-back games on February 13-14.
