Paxton Bell named BCIHL Player of the Week after leading EWU to home win

Eastern Washington University forward Paxton Bell has been named the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending February 8th.

The 22-year old led the Eagles' offence in a 5-2 home victory over Simon Fraser University on Saturday night, scoring a pair of goals and adding an assist for the first three-point night of his BCIHL career.

With Eastern leading 1-0 midway through the first period, Bell netted his sixth goal of the season off a feed from blueliner Chase Wharton. And he struck again with 11:26 remaining in the second, converting a Beau Walker pass past SFU starter Andrew Parent for a goal that would stand up as the game winner. He would then add a helper on Walker's empty net tally late in the third.

Bell has now picked up six points in his last three games and sits second in Eagles scoring with 17 points on the season.

Runners up for this week's award include Trinity Western University forward Andrew Wheeler, Eastern Washington University forward Beau Walker and University of Victoria forward Evan Warner.
