University of Victoria forward Evan Warner has been named the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending January 11th.
Warner -- the Vikes' captain -- led his team to a pair of crucial wins to kick off the 2015 calendar year.
First, on Friday, he picked up an assist on Shawn Mueller's first period power-play marker before setting up Adam Klein's eventual game winner in the third as Victoria squeeked out a 4-3 home victory over Eastern Washington.
And on Saturday, the 23-year old scored a pair of key unassisted goals, including an insurance marker late in the second period, as UVic stunned Simon Fraser University by a 5-2 score on the road.
Warner finished the weekend with four points and saw his team jump up to second place in the BCIHL standings.
Runners up for this week's award include Trinity Western University goaltender Silas Matthys, Trinity Western University forward Cody Fidgett and Selkirk College forward Danny Vlanich.
