Trinity Western University forward PJ Buys has been named the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending December 7th.
Buys led the way offensively on Friday night as the league-leading Spartans wrapped their most successful fall semester in program history with a 5-2 victory over Eastern Washington University.
The Newmarket, ON product helped TWU build a three-goal lead in the opening period, assisting on markers by Micah Cockrill and Florian Niedermaier before scoring himself with with 3:43 remaining in the frame.
And after the Eagles cut the lead to one, Buys helped set up Cody FIdgett on a Spartans' power-play with just nine seconds remaining in the second period to restore his team's two-goal cushion.
Buys finished the night with a goal and three assists, marking his second consecutive four-point game. He sits second on the Spartans with 20 points through 12 regular season games.
Runners up for this week's award include Simon Fraser University goaltender Jordan Liem, Eastern Washington University forward Paxton Bell and Simon Fraser University forward Jono Ceci.
