Trinity Western University forward J.P. Villeneuve has been named the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending March 9th.
A pair of unbelievable offences performances from Villeneuve played a key role in Trinity Western University advancing to the 2014 BCIHL Finals with a three-game first round series win over SFU.
In Game #1 on Thursday, with the Spartans trailing 1-0 late in the second period, Villeneuve struck for a pair of goals in the span of 1:51 to give TWU a lead in an eventual 3-2 home ice win.
And on Sunday, in a deciding Game #3 on the road, Villeneuve delivered a hat trick that included two blistering wrist shots off the rush to dash any hopes of a Clan comeback and deliver the Spartans into their first-ever BCIHL Championships series.
The 22-year old scored a total of five goals in the series against SFU, accounting for all but two of his team's markers over three games.
Runners up for this week's award include Selkirk College forward Connor McLaughlin, Trinity Western University goaltender Silas Matthys and Thompson Rivers University goaltender Chris Solecki.
