The British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League has announced its league award winners and all-stars for the 2013/14 season. Winners were selected in a vote conducted by BCIHL coaches.
MOST VALUABLE PLAYER - (Tie) Logan Proulx, Selkirk College & J.P. Villeneuve, Trinity Western University Proulx was named the Saints' captain prior to the 2013/14 season and led his team to their second consecutive BCIHL regular season title. Villeneuve carried the Spartans offensively during his first season of university hockey, finishing third in the BCIHL in goals with 21 and seventh in points with 33. The former Powell River Kings standout led TWU to a best-ever third place finish while recording 20 more points than the team's next leading scorer.
TOP DEFENCEMAN - Jared Eng, Simon Fraser University Eng made an immediate impact for the Clan following an offseason transfer from NCAA DI Sacred Heart, quarterbacking SFU's potent power-play while leading all BCIHL blueliners in goals and points with eight and 20 respectively. The 21-year old also led a strong defence corps that allowed just 2.33 goals-per-game in the regular season.
TOP GOALTENDER - Chris Hurry, Selkirk College Hurry thrived in his second season at Selkirk, taking over as the team's starting netminder and winning a BCIHL-best 14 regular season games between the pipes. The 22-year old also posted league bests in GAA (1.87), SV% (.925) and shutouts (3) while being named the BCIHL's Goaltender of the Month in February.
