Eastern Washington University forward Tyler Mort has been named the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending February 23rd.
On Friday night, Mort led the Eagles to a dramatic shootout victory over Simon Fraser University and was named the game's first star.
In the second period, Mort helped his team open the scoring when he assisted on a Paxton Bell. And in the third, he rifled home a rebound past SFU netminder Andrew Parent to put EWU up 3-2 in a game they would eventually win in a shootout.
Mort currently sits second on the Eagles in goals with nine and third in points with 12. He has been a consistent offensive contributor for Eastern after a pair of injury-plagued seasons in 2011/12 and 2012/13 that saw him dress for a total of 12 games.
Runners up for this week's award include Simon Fraser University forward Aaron Enns, Selkirk College forward Thomas Hardy and Trinity Western University forward Andrew Wheeler.
