The British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League has unveiled its award winners for the month of November (includes games played to December 7th, the start of the league's winter break).
Player of the Month - Cody Fidgett, Selkirk CollegeFidgett was a goal-scoring machine during the month of November, scoring a league-high 12 goals in just seven games (four more than the next highest total). He also led all BCIHL point-getters with 19. The 22-year old's top performance came in the Saints' biggest game, as netted a pair of goals and totalled five points in a 9-5 home ice win over SFU. He also picked up a hat trick against EWU on November 29th and scored two goals on two other occasions.
Defenceman of the Month - Zack Maxwell, Eastern Washington UniversityThe former NCAA Division III blueliner continued to play a key role in the Eagles' offence during a difficult stretch that saw the team drop eight of 10 games. Maxwell picked up assists in games against TWU and TRU and closed out the month with three points in a pair of games on the road against SFU.
Goaltender of the Month - Graeme Gordon, Simon Fraser UniversityGordon split the workload in the SFU net with crease-mate Andrew Parent during his team's eight-game slate of games in November, but he was nearly unbeatable when he took the net. He allowed just one goal on 33 shots in a win over EWU and stopped 26 of 27 shots in a victory over TWU. He also picked up his second shutout of the year with a 19-save performance against EWU to close out the semester.
Rookie of the Month - Tyler Berkholtz, Thompson Rivers UniversityBerkholtz capitalized on the opportunity to play with high-scoring veterans Duncan Schulz and Josh MacDonald, forming a dynamic trio that carried the WolfPack to six wins in seven games in November. A four-point performance against EWU highlighted a month where Berkholtz picked up multiple points five times and totalled five goals and 15 points in seven games.
