School is nearly out for the winter as Thompson Rivers University prepares to play their final B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League game of 2013 against the University of Victoria on Friday. The Vikes will visit Kamloops for an 8:30 PM faceoff at Memorial Arena.
UVic is coming off a weekend where they spilt with the league-leading Selkirk Saints.
The WolfPack have played well at home this season with a 4-1 record. Victoria might have only recorded their first win of the season but they always seem to play the ‘Pack real tough.
Two out of the three WolfPack wins have come by one goal including a heroic third period comeback on November 1st.
"We've been reinforcing to our guys that we need to show up ready to play this time," head coach Don Schulz said.
The WolfPack have experienced one of the greatest first halves in school history. They are 8-5 and just two points out of first place in the league.
While they have enjoyed a fairly light schedule in 2013, six of their remaining ten games in 2014 come against Simon Fraser University and Selkirk College.
A new calendar will bring in reinforcements for TRU, as forwards Ryan Veillet and Jake Howardson have both missed the first half of the season with injuries. They are both expected to return back to the lineup in January and provide more depth up front.
The WolfPack will return to action on January 11th, 2014 as they hit the road to visit Simon Fraser University.
Kamloops fans won’t get the chance to see the ‘Pack at Memorial Arena until January 17th when top ranked Selkirk comes to town for the first time in the New Year.
Good luck on exams and Happy Holidays!
