Eastern Washington University forward Uriah Machuga has been named the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending November 17th.
Machuga scored a pair of goals and added an assist last weekend as the Eagles rebounded from a Friday night home loss by defeating Trinity Western on the road Saturday afternoon.
Against SFU on Friday in Cheney, Machuga scored EWU's only goal in a 7-1 loss to the Clan, as he picked off an errant clearing attempt high in the offensive zone and beat Graeme Gordon with a wrist shot from the slot.
And on Saturday, the 21-year old helped his team bump a five-game losing streak in Langley. Late in the second period he set up linemate Tyler Mort on the eventual game winner, and moments into the third he put the game out of reach with a goal of his own.
Machuga leads all EWU skaters in goals and points with 6 and 12 respectively, good for 14th in league scoring.
Runners up for this week's award include Selkirk College forward Cody Fidgett, Simon Fraser University forward Aaron Enns and Trinity Western University forward J.P. Villeneuve.
