Trinity Western goaltender Fredeman named BCIHL Player of the Week

Trinity Western University goaltender Harry Fredeman has been named the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending October 27th.

Fredeman led the Spartans to a pair of home wins over the University of Victoria on Friday and Saturday, boosting TWU's regular season record to 4 wins and 1 loss.

On Friday, the 21-year old netminder was the difference in a game where his team was badly outshot by a 38-21 margin. Fredeman allowed just a pair of goals -- to Eli Wiebe during a 16-shot second period and to Mitchell Bell on a power-play late in the third.

Then, on Saturday afternoon, the Delta, B.C. product shut down the Vikes' offence entirely to the tune of a 42-save shutout. His tremendous play peaked during a 24-save middle frame that allowed his teammates to score an insurance marker rather than see UVic tie the game.

Fredeman is unbeaten in four starts this season and currently leads all BCIHL starters with a 1.15 goals-against average and .966 save-percentage.

Runners up for this week's award include Simon Fraser University forward Nick Sandor, Thompson Rivers University forward Duncan Schulz and University of Victoria goaltender Robert Simmons.
