Selkirk College forward Connor McLaughlin has been named the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending October 20th.
McLaughlin helped lead the Saints to a pair of victories on home ice against Thompson Rivers, as Selkirk swept the weekend series with 8-2 and 5-1 scorelines.
On Friday night, the 22-year old scored a pair of second period goals -- including the game winner -- on end-to-end rushes. On the first, he beat a WolfPack defender 1-on-1 and deked past TRU starter Stephen Wolff. On the second, he evaded three opponents in the neutral zone before blasting a shot in from high in the slot.
On Saturday, he added two more goals to his league-leading total, which now stands at eight. Both came from in tight off passes from linemate Beau Taylor.
McLaughlin currently leads all BCIHL scorers in points with 11 through four games.
Runners up for this week's award include Simon Fraser University forwards Jono Ceci and Nick Sandor, and Trinity Western University goaltender Harry Fredeman.
