The Thompson Rivers University Hockey Men's Hockey team is Alberta bound for two games in Calgary at this weekend's SAIT 2013 Icebreaker Tournament.
The ‘Pack’s first game goes this Friday night at 5:00 PM against the Red Deer College Kings. They also play Saturday night against the host SAIT Trojans at 7:00 PM. Both games will be played at Trojans Arena on the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology campus.
The WolfPack are looking to bounce back after an unsettling loss to Trinity Western last weekend.
"I know that I said that we aren’t too focused on results in the preseason, but we need to start developing a winning mentality in the locker room," head coach Don Schulz said.
The ‘Pack will be playing against teams outside their conference so the weekend will provide good exposure to different talent. Both SAIT and Red Deer play in the Alberta Collegiate Athletic Conference, where the Trojans won the silver medal in the league playoffs last year.
Coach Schulz is looking to build off of last weekend’s game as he and his coaching staff continue to figure out how their team will look this fall. The top twelve forward spots and top three defensive pairings will be narrowed down this weekend.
"It's a process," Schulz said. "We have to keep moving forward."
The WolfPack kick off their 2013-14 BC Intercollegiate Hockey Season next weekend (Sept 27-28) in Victoria against the University of Victoria Vikes.
Their home opener is Friday October 4th at Memorial Arena when they entertain the Trinity Western University Spartans. Game time is 8:30 PM.
