Summerland Steam forward Daniel Kerr commits to SFU for 2013/14

The Simon Fraser University Men’s Ice Hockey team is pleased to announce that Summerland Steam forward Daniel Kerr has committed to join the team for the 2013/14 B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League season.

Kerr put up 20 points and 70 penalty minutes in 52 games with Summerland last season.

The forward is young compared to most of his teammates, but is considered a gritty player not afraid to go into the 'dirty areas'. He also brings some experience from the North American Prospects Hockey League, having suited up the previous season for the Wenatchee Wild 18U team.

Kerr joins his brother Chris in the SFU lineup as the third brother combo to suit up for the team since its re-inception in 2004.

"I'm excited to be going to SFU so that I can start my education while still being apart of a good hockey program," says Kerr. "I'm hoping to work myself into the lineup and be successful in school this year."

"Having Daniel join the team with his brother Chris will be a great experience for them both," says SFU Head Coach Mark Coletta. "Daniel will be a hard nosed player that will give us some added depth, he is young and willing to put in the hard work that will make him successful at SFU on and off the ice."

Kerr is the 12th player to commit to SFU for the 2013/14 season.
