The Eastern Washington University men's hockey program is pleased to announce that defenseman Brandon Rumble (Kent, WA) has committed to the Eagles for the 2013/14 B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League season.
Rumble comes to EWU after spending the last two seasons with the Helena Bighorns of the America West Hockey League (AWHL). During his two years there he was part of two AWHL championships, leading all defenseman in league scoring and being named a first team all-star.
Rumble’s career in Helena saw him post 91 points in 89 games. The 6-foot, 170 pounder is expected to be a big part of the backend for the Eagles this season.
Helena has produced a few top end defensemen that have a big part of the Eagles in past years. Both Justin Crosby and Zach Maxwell came from the Helena program in recent years and been top pairing guys on the blue line for EWU.
"Brandon brings with him a great deal of excitement when you look at his offensive numbers, but he’s also shown to be a plus player in his own end," says EWU head coach Bill Shaw.
During Rumble's two years in Helena he was a plus-96.
He is the ninth commitment of year for the Eagles, who have been one of the more active teams in BCIHL this summer. The Eagles expect to be able to announce the preseason and regular season schedule in the coming days along with season ticket information.
