Eastern Washington University is pleased to announce that forward Dylan Tappe (Spokane, WA) has committed to the Eagles for the 2013/14 B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League season.
Tappe comes to EWU after finishing his junior hockey career with the KIJHL's Spokane Braves, where he scored 25 goals and totalled 45 points in 36 games during the 2012/13 campaign. Overall, he spent parts of four seasons in Spokane, amassing 177 points in 158 games.
Between tours of duty with the Braves Tappe also played for three different British Columbia Hockey League franchises (Westside, Trail, and Prince George) accumulating 20 points in 65 games.
"We've been looking at Dylan for a few years now and discussed him becoming an Eagles a few times," says Eagles head coach Bill Shaw. "After spending two years in the BCIHL we have made adding depth up front a priority and getting a point a game player like Dylan should really help."
Tappe comes from the same junior program that deveoped current Eagles forwards Nick Redding and Uriah Machuga. Both players saw important roles with the team and Tappe is expected to contribute in a similar fashion.
The Eagles are expecting to announce a few more commitments by the end of the month as the look forward to the 2013/14 season.
