Selkirk's Sirard named Playoff POW after single goal allowed in Uvic sweep

Selkirk College goaltender Alex Sirard has been named the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending March 10th.

Sirard led the Saints to a two-game series sweep over the University of Victoria, backstopping Selkirk to 3-0 and 4-1 victories.

On Friday, the 21-year old was solid when needed in posting a 13-save shutout. One night later, Sirard was considerably more busy in a 26-save effort that saw him frustrate UVic shooters and hold the Vikes to a single goal on 11 power-play opportunities.

The netminder's totals for the weekend included two wins, a 0.50 goals-against average and a .975 save-percentage.

Runners up for this week's award include Simon Fraser University forward Ben Van Lare, Selkirk College forward Cody Fidgett and Thompson Rivers University forward Duncan Shulz.
