47-save effort by Zwiers ends Selkirk winning streak, earns BCIHL POW nod

Trinity Western University goaltender Tim Zwiers has been named the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending January 20th.

Zwiers turned in one of the season's top goaltending performances on Friday night when he held previously unbeaten Selkirk College to one goal on 48 shots in a 2-1 Spartans' victory. The 2012 BCIHL Goaltender of the Year stopped all 28 shots that he faced through 40 minutes and allowed the Saints' only tally of the night during a 20-shot third period.

The win was Zwiers' second in as many starts for a TWU squad that is surging after a tough first half of the season.

Runners up for this week's award include Simon Fraser University forward Christopher Hoe, Eastern Washington University forward Ryan Pajimola and Thompson Rivers University forward Anthony Delong.
