SFU's Saturday home game vs. TRU to benefit Juvenile Diabetes Research

The Simon Fraser University Men’s Ice Hockey program is pleased to announce that the team's home game against Thompson Rivers University on December 1st will be hosted in support of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

The event will aim to raise awareness for type 1 diabetes, and SFU will donate a portion of funds raised at the event to the JDRF.

The JDRF will also be on-hand to present information to Clan fans in attendance and there will be a silent auction for SFU/JDRF game-worn jerseys as well as a raffle draw for other great prizes.

"JDRF research is committed to improving the lives of all people with type 1 diabetes and to curing this disease," says foundation spokesperson Amanda Rohla. "With excellent supporters such as the SFU Men’s Hockey program we are getting ever closer to realizing the dream of a cure for type 1 diabetes and are so thankful for their efforts."

SFU alumnus and former Clan blueliner Adam Chapman will also be on-hand to support the cause.

"Growing up and playing my entire hockey career with diabetes and seeing its impact on family and friends, it is really good to see SFU Hockey putting this event on for such a great cause and one that is very close to my heart."

Tickets at the door will be $5 for students/children and $10 for adults.
