University of Victoria forward Evan Warner has been named the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending October 28th.
Warner's offensive touch fueled the Vikes first victory of the season on Friday night against Eastern Washington University, as the 21-year old scored four times in a come-from-behind 6-5 win.
After twice giving UVic early leads, Warner saw his team fall behind 5-3 with 10:16 remaining in the third period. And after his team cut the lead to a goal with under seven minutes to go, Warner tied and won the game with a pair of late goals. His hat trick marker came with 3:08 left in regulation while he struck for the game winner on a power-play with 1:17 on the clock.
Warner's four-goal performance was the first in the BCIHL this season. He now leads all UVic goal scorers with five and point-getters with seven.
The first-year centre is a graduate of the Alberta Junior Hockey League, where he captained the Drumheller Dragons during his 20-year old season and was named the league's Most Sportsmanlike Player for the 2009/10 campaign.
Runners up for this week's award include Thompson Rivers University forward Tyler Jackson, Selkirk College forward Connor McLaughlin and Simon Fraser University forward Christopher Hoe.
