SFU Men's Hockey

The Simon Fraser University Men’s Ice Hockey program has announced details of this year's University Hockey Classic, a showcase event which started during the 2011/12 season as a two-game exhibition series between SFU and the University of British Columbia, who compete in CIS.

This year's event takes place on September 21st at UBC's Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre, and on September 22nd at SFU's Bill Copeland Sports Centre. Both games are scheduled for 7:00 PM faceoffs and tickets will be available at the door each night.

In January, nearly 1600 fans witnessed SFU win the inaugural event at the Bill Copeland Sports Centre, needing overtime and a shootout to beat UBC after the two teams each won their respective road games.

Students from both universities enjoy a healthy rivalry between the schools, a rivalry which has grown significantly in past years with the success of the Shrum Bowl football game.
