The University of Victoria Vikes have made it to the championship side semi final at the BC Intercollegiate Hockey League Championship Tournament. The Vikes took the first place SFU Clan 4-3 in a shootout.After a scoreless first period,SFU's Tyler Mah (defence, Burnaby, BC) beat Victoria goalie Jason Margolus (Vancouver, BC) at 4:35 of the second period. Less than two minutes later, BCIHL MVP Ben Van Lare (Dallas,TX) connected with linemates Jono Ceci (North Vancouver, BC) and Christopher Hoe (Burnaby, BC) to give SFU a 2-0 lead.Before the second period was over Victoria got on the board. At the 17:13 mark, Mitchell :Bell (West Vancouver, BC) took a pass and went upstairs on SFU goalie Graeme Gordon(North Vancouver, BC). The Vikes tied the game at the 9:37 mark of the third stanza. Eli Weibe (Tswwassen, BC) deflected a shot in front.SFU went up 3-2 when Mah scored.U Vic pulled their goalie in the final minute and a half and it paid off. Brent Sutherland (West Vancouver, BC) scored at 18:29 to send the game into overtime.After a scoreless extra period, the teams went to a shootout. The 12 th shooter was Dennis Pavlina (Osoyoos, BC). He scored to give the Vikes a victory.UVic Will play Okanagan College Coyotes at 7:30 pm Friday night at Memorial Arena in Kamloops.SFU will take on Thompson Rivers University in the elmination game at 4 pm.
