It was a longshot that Trinity Western University would be bele to overcome a five-point late season deficit to catch Eastern Washington for fifth place and a spot in the B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League's 2012 Championship Tournament.
And that longshot failed to pay off last weekend, as a TWU loss and an Eagles victory sewed up a berth in the tournament for the BCIHL newcomers.
As a result, the championships field is now set with the following seedings:
#1 - Simon Fraser University
#2 - Okanagan College
#3 - Thompson Rivers University
#4 - University of Victoria
#5 - Eastern Washington University
Under the BCIHL's five-team, five-day, often-confusing event format, EWU and UVic will face off on Wednesday, March 14th with the winner taking on SFU a day later. Okanagan and TRU are also set to meet on the opening day of the championships, with the winner advancing to a Friday match-up against an SFU-UVic-EWU challenger.
