The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack will face off against their heated rivals from Simon Fraser University on Friday night at Kamloops Memorial Arena. Faceoff is set for 8:30 PM.
The on-ice rivalry between the teams continues to grow in TRU's third BCIHL season.
"We've played SFU in the Chamionship Game for the last two years in a row and has lost to them both times so there’s an ingrained rivalry,” says WolfPack head coach Don Schulz, who expects his team to be ready to battle for a crucial two points on Friday. "We've continued hard work on our defensive zone play and we'll be concentrating on our new penalty kill strategy."
WolfPack captain Andrew Fisher expects no shortage of emotion when the teams take to the ice.
"The rivalry helps get everybody fired up for the game,” he says. “I think that everybody looks forward to playing against SFU and we take pride in playing well at home.”
TRU is coming off a pair of home ice ties against Eastern Washington University and will look to get back to their winning ways on home ice. Their current three-game winless skid on home ice is the longest since the WolfPack entered the BCIHL in 2008.
SFU, meanwhile, is coming off a 3-3 tie against Okanagan College. The Clan are unbeaten on the season at 13-0-4.
Tickets for Friday's game are $5.00 for adults and free for students with a valid TRU ID.
