The TRU WolfPack will be back on home ice this weekend when they take on Eastern Washington University in a two-game series at Memorial Arena. Friday's opener faces off at 8:30 PM.
Friday's match-up marks the first time that Thompson Rivers will have faced the Eagles since TRU traveled to Cheney, WA to open the regular seasin in early October. That visit resulted in two loses for the WolfPack, but head coach Don Schulz says his team is better prepared this time around.
"It was very early in the season and we had a number of injuries at the time so we essentially played with three lines,” he explains.
Since then, the team has not only welcomed back their injured players but also introduced six new players into the line-up, some of whom will be making their season debut Friday night.
Kevin Hanna and Rylee Orr were not able to play the first two games back last weekend but will be in the line-up this weekend.
Currently, TRU is third in the B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League standings and only four points behind OkanaganCollege with two games in hand.
"Every league game is crucial so every chance to get into the win column is important," says Schulz, who has been focussing on defensive zone play and conditioning in recent practices.
“If everyone’s healthy we should be a force to be reckoned with.”
The back-end of the weekend series is set for 8:00 PM on Saturday. Tickets are available at the door for $5.00, while TRU students are admitted free of charge with their student card.
